It was Delatre who printed Haden's initial publication, Etudes a l'eau-forte (Etched Studies) in 1865. This was done in Paris because Haden thought the English would have no appreciation for his work. Ironically, the Etudes caused little stir in Paris, but were a great success in London and won for Haden sudden fame. One of the plates which comprise the twenty-five of the Etudes a l'eau-forte is Mytton Hall, which depicts a Tudor mansion situated in the north of England where Seymour Haden would stay when he indulged his passion for salmon fishing. -- Label copy for University Collection '83, June 17, 1983 to July 17, 1983.
