Adam Fuss's chosen medium is the photogram. Made without a camera, each piece is a unique image created by placing translucent or opaque objects on a sheet of photographic paper, then exposing it to light. Fuss has said, 'An echo is a good way to describe the photogram, which is a visual echo of a real object.' While the image is virtually abstract, the contact with what is represented is actual and direct. -- Label copy for After Art: Rethinking 150 Years of Photography, December 4, 1994 to March 26, 1995.
