In 1995 Ruscha collaborated with Aldo Crommelynck, a world-renowned master etcher, on Sunliners, a series named after a convertible made by Ford in the 1950s. The project came about during a visit Crommelynck made to Ruscha's studio, where he saw a series of the artist's gouache drawings of drinking glasses floating on lush grounds. He immediately saw potential in the surfaces for translation to nuanced etchings, and invited Ruscha into a collaboration (Siri Engberg, Catalogue Raisonné: Edward Ruscha Editions 1959-1999, Volume II). -- Label copy for 150 Works of Art, October 1, 2005 to February 26, 2006.
