Saris are organized into a main field, borders, and a pallu. The full length of cloth which meets the ground is defined by a continuous border, while the opposite border becomes a strong diagonal element when draped. The bandhana motifs on this sari's pallu accurately portray women's dress and jewelry. -- Label copy for Courtyard, Bazaar, Temple: Traditional of Textile Expression in India, exhibition at Bellevue Art Museum, June12 to July 25,1982.
