The kumbha (temple) motif running the length of the field is integrated with depictions of parrots, meandering vines, and lotus blossoms from the surrounding countryside. A floral border provides a base for the kumbha which corresponds to the temple motif in the wall paintings of this area. Fuchsia, green, and yellow are painted onto the tied warp and weft threads prior to weaving. -- Label copy for Courtyard, Bazaar, Temple: Traditions of Textile Expression in India, Bellevue Art Museum, June 12 - July 25, 1982..
