Turban, like each of India's indigenous garments, are long lengths of cloth wrapped around the body. This pagri is seven yards in length. Organizationally, it also conforms to a similar system with decorative panels defining the ends of the cloth. The red decorative ends are known as pallavi. -- Label copy for Courtyard, Bazaar, Temple: Traditions of Textile Expression in India, June 12, 1982 to July 25, 1982.
