Withershins is a series of layered phrases (sometimes seven layers deep) that is initiated by one or two individuals walking through a maze. The maze is low to the ground and covers a series of pressure plates that respond to movement. Multiple individuals may walk in this interactive maze, yet only two will initiate the audible layered phrases. There are two entrances to the maze which control either a male or female voice. In addition to the maze, this installation work also contains a wall projection that depicts a series of hand movements. The projection image is also controlled by the maze walkers. The hand movements in conjunction with the layered phrases produce a powerful and labyrinth-like examination of the dichotomy between right and left-handedness.
